Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Debuts, Revealing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voice Cast

Nintendo and Illumination shared the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

An Interstellar Journey Based on Iconic Releases

Similar to the games from the Wii period that act as its source material, Mario will depart from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will encounter once more some well-known personalities, including the Luma, a breakout star from the previous film.

Yet it looks like Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who seemingly utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Celebrity Voice Actors Returns and Expands

The movie will welcome back of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

A Big Year for Mario

The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut near the 40-year celebration of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 promises to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.

Nintendo confirmed a trio of new releases already confirmed for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Premiere Date Announced

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
